Our History

Deep Sea World was founded in 1993, where it was independently owned before becoming part of the Aspro Parks family. We are still a proud member of the Aspro family, with a number of sister aquariums across the country including Blue Planet Aquarium in Chester, Bristol Aquarium, Tynemouth Aquarium, Hastings Aquarium and the Blue Reef aquariums in Portsmouth and Newquay.

Situated next to the UNESCO Forth Rail Bridge Deep Sea World is the perfect place to get unique views of this impressive structure while learning more about the wonders of the sea as over 100,000 tourists visit the Fife aquarium annually.

Spectacular Exhibits and Animals

Since our opening, we’ve brought the most incredible animals to our aquarium. We’re home to a variety of species from axolotls and anemone to rays and piranhas, with our famous sand tiger sharks taking centre stage since 1993. Since then, they’ve welcomed a few visitors to their tank through our shark diving experiences, which are still ongoing to this day.

Through the years, we’ve also invested in new exhibits, notably the outdoor Seal Harbour in 2005.

Our Access All Areas experience also allows you to go behind the curtain and learn all there is about how our aquarium is run and how we look after the animals.

What’s more, Deep Sea World continues to hold the record for the longest underwater moving walkway in Europe.

Exciting Events at Deep Sea World

Here at Deep Sea World we put on a whole host of events throughout the year to help you learn more about our species. With special events typically happening during the school holidays, we also have daily talks and feeds across species like seals, seahorses, axolotl and piranhas.

We’re also able to cater for birthday parties, which includes room hire, a special guided tour, food and a free party bag. So, if you have a budding aquarist or want to avoid the usual soft play centre, this is a party the kids won’t forget in a hurry.
