DEEP SEA WORLD GOES ON CITY SAFARI

1 January, 2016

Deep Sea World, Scotland’s national aquarium, played host to television presenter Jennifer Reoch and the City Safari team as part of a new show which is broadcast this week.

In the episode, which is due to be shown on STV Edinburgh and Glasgow on Friday, January 15th, Jennifer was given a tour of the North Queensferry aquarium by Visitor Services Supervisor Katie MacFarlane.

As part of the visit Jennifer got to meet a selection of Deep Sea World’s tropical residents including lionfish, poison dart frogs, piranhas and their infamous alligator snapping turtle.

“It was great to welcome Jennifer and the team from Scotland’s City Safari to the aquarium and they all seemed to thoroughly enjoy their visit,” said Katie.

“As well as the tropical species, we also did a lot of filming in the underwater walkthrough tunnel and talked about the Underwater Safari and our collection of sharks,” she added.

At 112 metres long Deep Sea World boasts the largest underwater walkway tunnel in Europe.

Its main Underwater Safari display holds 4.5 million litres of seawater, making it the largest temperate marine exhibit in the UK, and is home to one of Europe’s largest collections of sharks and rays, as well as hundreds of other marine life including flatfish, crabs and lobsters.

Stars of the display are the giant, three-metre-long sand tiger sharks, the Critically Endangered angel sharks and the graceful eagle rays.
